We need you!
McDonald staff, students, and teachers appreciate the important contributions volunteers make to our school. We welcome all interested parents, grandparents, friends & neighbors - YOU - to volunteer! In order to work in positions with children, including field trip chaperones, everyone must complete the annual volunteer screening (see details at bottom of page). Once approved, you may volunteer for the year.

Volunteering at McDonald International School
Are you interested in learning about opportunities to volunteer at McDonald International school? Below is a short guide to applying for or renewing your volunteer status.
McDonald International school is asking every parent/guardian/grandparent, even if they do not anticipate volunteering this year, to complete the application by October 1, to ease the application approval process for school staff, and allowing you to volunteer if you have the opportunity.
Visitors, Helpers and Volunteers at McDonald:
• Parents are always welcome to visit their child’s classroom for special events organized by invitation from teachers, no volunteer status needed.
• You will need to meet volunteer requirements in these cases: • you are “working” a classroom party/event, as in you are leading an activity, or
• You are organizing on behalf of the classroom, such as room parenting; or providing a service, such as working in the school garden (this establishes a “no fee for service” relationship); and/or, you plan to be in the building or chaperone a field trip.
• Only volunteers who have completed or updated their volunteer applications will be permitted in the building or to chaperone, beginning October 1st. Seattle Public Schools has an online volunteer application.
• Approved applicants have 1) an approved background check 2) completed the Adult Sexual Misconduct Prevention and Health & Safety courses
