The PTA Board is sponsoring a two-session DEI training that we have space for additional parents to participate in. Anne Beitlers (former McD parent) and Morena Newton from UW's College of Education will lead and facilitate both sessions. The ultimate goal of this two session training is that we have a better understanding of systems, positionality, and how the two interact to support us in our work as PTA and community members. The training dates and session topics are:

1. Feb 9 from 6:15-7:15. Engage in reading and reflection together to better understand ourselves, our conditioning, and how we are positioned and engage in systems.

2. Feb 16 from 6:15 to 7:45. Engage in facilitated conversation within racial caucus groups about what we are learning

We welcome any parents who are interested in this topic to join us! Please note that it is highly recommended by the trainers to attend both sessions, as they are intended to build upon each other, and the second session will be especially challenging to participate in without the information from the first session.
