Profile: Dan, Vicky, and Zachary Wise

Who are you and who are your family members?

Dan(ielle) and Vicky and our son, Zachary Wise who is in kindergarten at McDonald

How did McDonald Elementary enter your lives?

We loved the idea of language immersion and were fortunate that McDonald Elementary was added as an immersion school just as Zac was ready to start kindergarten.  We were lucky enough to get into the school even though it is not in our reference area.

What occupies your time?

Dan is a social worker who works with homeless adults and families in King County.  Her newest work project is to develop 71 units of housing for homeless adults in the Fremont area.  Vicky is a child and family therapist in a private practice in Woodinville, Washington.  Zac is a good student who loves his friends and really likes to wear ties.

What would you like our community to know about you?

Our family is always up for an outdoor adventure: backpacking, snowboarding, biking, unicycling, running, skurfing.  There are so many opportunities in the Pacific Northwest.

What are your hopes for the future?

Dan hopes to master roller skating backwards.  Vicky wants to complete the RSVP bike ride to Vancouver BC this year.  Zac hopes to return to iFly Seattle and go indoor skydiving again.  Marriage equality and more affordable housing for people in poverty would be nice too.

Can you share a favorite or memorable elementary school moment from your past?

On Dan’s first day of kindergarten she forgot to get off at her stop and went all the way back to the bus depot.  They couldn’t get ahold of her mom.  A random bus employee took her home in his car to reunite her with a hysterical mother.
