Family Survey and Levies - April 4, 2018

Dear McDonald International Families,

Friday, April 6, will be my last day at McDonald International School as your interim principal. Michelle Goldberg will be returning to work during spring break. I feel honored to have been part of your school community these past months. During my time here I observed all classrooms, worked with students and staff, and met many of you personally. McDonald International is an excellent school with a very supportive parent community, strong leadership, dedicated teachers and staff, and wonderful students. You can be very proud of your school! I want to thank everyone for your support during this time of transition. I am confident that your school will be in good hands when Principal Goldberg returns!

Seattle Public Schools will be sending the annual family survey out starting the week of April 16. It will come via email to those families with an email address on file, and via USPS for those that don’t. Please take the time to fill out the survey as it gives the school valuable information as the staff plans for the coming school year.

Earlier this year we submitted a proposal to include a new gymnasium for McDonald International School on the BEX V Capital Levy, which will be on the ballot in February 2019. The school district is holding several community meetings regarding upcoming levies. We hope you can join one of the meetings to help advocate for our school!

Levies 2019 community meetings scheduled
Planning is underway for two levies to be submitted to Seattle voters in February 2019. The Operations Levy, a renewal of the expiring Operations Levy, provides approximately 20 percent of the district’s general fund annual budget and supports educational programs not fully funded by the state. The Building Excellence V (BEX V) Capital Levy, a renewal of the expiring BEX IV Capital Levy, includes projects to improve safety and security needs, add space to meet growing enrollment, replace or repair school buildings and systems and fund major preventive maintenance throughout the district. Seattle Public Schools requests your input and feedback on possible projects.

District staff members will present information, listen and collect your input and feedback, and answer questions. Please join us. The district can provide ASL and language interpreters if requested five days in advance. Email or call 206-252-0070 (language interpreters) to request support.

All meetings will be 6:30-8:15 p.m.
