Veterans Day Event & Updates - October 20, 2017

Dear McDonald International Students and Families,

Can you believe November is just around the corner? It seems like just yesterday we were beginning the new school year.

The McDonald International, International Committee would like to invite family members that have served, or are currently serving, in the military to participate as guest readers in an upcoming Veterans Day event at McDonald International.  These guest readers will be visiting classes to read a book that is relevant to Veterans Day. This event will be taking place November 6-9. Our Librarian, Ms. Pat, will be providing the books for our guest readers. If you have a family member who has served and would be willing to come help us honor our veterans, please email Sara Schroeder.

This is just one of the ways that we will be learning about Veterans Day at McDonald. In their Art and Library classes, students will also be learning about veterans and the different ways that we honor them in our culture.

Curious what’s going on in PE? Check out Ms. Fleck’s attached newsletter.

This past Thursday the students and staff participated in the state-wide Great Shake Out drill. During this drill we practiced what we would do in the event of an earthquake. The students did a great job of dropping, covering, and holding on. A special shout out goes to the 2nd and 3rd grade students who were in the cafeteria when the drill took place.

We are thrilled to have so many families interested in volunteering. If you have turned in your paperwork, all emails have gone out letting you know if you have been approved or if we are missing documentation. Please check your spam folder if you have turned in paperwork and have not heard from us.

I hope everyone has a great week and, as always, please do not hesitate to reach out to me or your child’s classroom teachers.

Michelle Goldberg
