Welcome New Staff Members - May 19, 2017

Dear McDonald International Students and Families,

It was wonderful seeing so many students and families at International Night. Thank you so much to the parents and teachers, who helped make this event possible.

Over the last several weeks, students have come to school with fidget tools. While these tools can be helpful for some students, they can also serve as a distraction. If you feel your child is in need of a fidget tool, please reach out to the classroom teachers before sending your child to school with it. We appreciate you support.

For the 2017-2018 school year, we welcome two new staff members to McDonald International. Lynn Carveth will serve as our nurse and Amanda Rengli will serve as our art teacher. Below is a brief bio on each of these new staff members.

Lynne Carveth Bio
Lynne Carveth grew up in Butte Montana. She graduated with her Baccalaureate degree in Nursing from Montana State University (Bozeman)/University of Montana (Missoula). She moved to Seattle and worked 7 years in medical-surgical and cardiac nursing at Providence Hospital and Veterans Hospital. Lynne then moved to San Diego where she worked at Mercy Hospital and the San Diego Public Health Department for 5 years.  This is where she discovered that she really enjoyed Public Health. Lynne eventually relocated back to Seattle, started a family and took time off from nursing when the kids were younger. Lynne has worked as a school nurse for 8 years now. She earned her Masters in Science in Medical Infomatics from Northwestern University in Chicago in 2011. Lynne stated that she loves working with the students and teachers and that school nursing is the most enjoyable nurse job she has had. Lynne loves to ski, hike and play tennis. She plans to trek the Inca Trail for a week in Peru this summer with her kids.

Amanda Rengli Bio
Ms. Amanda joins us from Wedgwood Elementary, where she has been enjoying her first year of teaching. In 2015, she graduated from Western Washington University with a degree in Art Education and minors in English and French. She completed her student teaching at the International Bilingual School of Provence, in Aix en Provence, France, where she got to work with students and teachers from all over the world. Ms. Amanda’s favorite art mediums are printmaking, and fibers/fabrics. She also loves art history. When she isn’t at school, she enjoys embroidery, making art, reading books, hiking and traveling. She greatly anticipates joining McDonald International School next year, and can’t wait to make all sorts of awesome art with students.

I hope you have a great weekend and as always, if you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to reach out.
