Yumiko Taniguchi, 3rd/4th Japanese Immersion

I am excited to be back in the McDonald school community!

I was born and raised in Kawasaki, Japan, and moved to Washington State when I was 18 years old.

I graduated from Central Washington University receiving a BA in Elementary Education and a minor in Early Childhood Education. I have taught in a Japanese immersion program for ten years, and I have witnessed the power of language learning. I believe that languages can be used as a great tool to understand and interpret the world, and I feel lucky to have this opportunity to share my language and culture with the community.

I was pregnant when I taught first grade Japanese Immersion at McDonald in 2014. My son is going to be 4 years old next month!

Outside of my teaching, I enjoy being a mother, taking photographs of amazing moments, reading lots of great books, traveling, learning languages and cultures, and practicing mindfulness through yoga and meditation.

I look forward to a great school year!
