Jennifer Morris, 3rd Grade Spanish Immersion

It's such a joy to be a part of McDonald International School!  As the 3rd grade Spanish Immersion teacher I get the privilege of teaching math and science in my native language. What I love about McDonald is how the staff, students, and parents all work as a community to make our school the amazing place it is.

I was born in San Jose, California and raised in Hermiston, Oregon. As a first generation Mexican-American, my personal path to becoming the first in my family to graduate both high school and college was heavily influenced by pivotal elementary school educators who set early foundations for my academic success. I was inspired by them to be an elementary educator who motivates students and guides them to value education at a young age.

Aside from being a teacher, I am a runner, and I competed in the Women’s Track and Cross Country teams in the Division 1 collegiate level at Oregon State University. Through this experience, I have learned the importance of working as a team and being a leader inside and outside the school setting. This is why I believe that working collaboratively with parents and being a community teacher is a key element to any school.

I also enjoy spending time with my husband Jerod and traveling around the world. I have been to Mexico, Japan, Chile, Argentina, Peru, Thailand, Canada, Kenya, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Spain, and France . I like to bring these experiences into the classroom and the students even have Spanish-speaking country presentations at the end of the year!

Hope to see you around school!
Maestra Morris
