Jane Petrich, Administrative Secretary

I am so pleased to be part of the McDonald International school community, and to have the opportunity to help build this growing program. My first exposure to an international school was 1999 when I was hired by Karen Kodama to work in the office of Latona Elementary, the first school within SPS to transform into an international school. Three months after joining the Latona staff, we became the John Stanford International School, and started the journey toward growing the next generation of global citizens.

After 12 wonderful and exciting years at JSIS, I accepted an offer from Cheryl Grinager, the founding principal of McDonald International, to leave JSIS, and help build McDonald International into the jewel it has become. It has proved to be a wonderful (and challenging!) decision.

When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband, riding bikes, gardening, and traveling. We have two adult daughters, one starting a PhD program at Northeastern University in Boston, and the other who is looking to put her degree in Environmental Science to work here in Seattle. I am happy to say they have grown into wonderful young adults!

I truly love what I do here at McDonald International School, and value the trust the community has placed in me. It brings me joy every day to watch our young students growing into confident, bilingual, global citizens
